A Victim Impact Statement describes how a crime has affected you. This may be a written statement or other form of information given to police, Crown counsel or the court.
A Victim Impact Statement can be written by you or some close to you. It will be used in sentencing if the accused is found guilty or pleads guilty. It should describe how the crime affected you and others close to you.
The BC government provides a victim impact statement guide and form in several languages.
